A Tale of Two Triathlons…in photos

A Tale of Two Triathlons…in photos

Today we participated in a triathlon. Toby was the only one with a number on his chest but, trust me. Spectating a triathlon this long with a four year old to entertain is a sport for Mommy too. Toby did this race at the last minute –  mostly for fun and to support a friend during his first race.

The course

Body marking. Numbers on the arm, ages on the leg.

Chip retrieval.

Waiting for the race to start.

More cowbell. Please.

Toby's first tri and first shaved leg.

Almost time.

To wait....

and wait.. he eventually gets in about 40 minutes behind Trevor.

Mugging.

Waiting for dad to surface.

Go Dad!

Toby finishes the 12 mile bike ride.

Trevor crosses the finish line.

Waiting for Dad to come back from the 5k in the "treehouse".

Trevor recovers on the cold grass.

Toby nearing the finish.

A very nice finish!

Those are some great shots! It was a fun adventure wasn’t it? I am so proud of our boys, they really did great!

I must say though, I am half surprised you didn’t mention Robbie’s mishap in the port-a-potty…..well maybe if you would have seen the mess…..anyway, it was a great day! 🙂

Go Toby!! I am in awe of people that can do triathlons. The running, I’m learning to handle that. Bike riding, I used to ride —- when I was in grade school! (could I still do it now??) And swimming? Forget it. I have never passed a swimming test in my life. I would probably still be in the water trying to get somewhere. Very impressive, athletic husband you’ve got there!

Ronda, once you toughen up your bottom a bit the riding is great. In fact, if you’re trying to burn calories you can do it faster (and with less tangible effort) on a bike than running. I’m with you on the swimming thing…not my strong suit. However, there are also duathlons – run, bike, run….

I’ve actually been toying with the idea of getting a bike so I could do some cross-training on my off days while I’m prepping for these bigger runs and the 1/2 marathon! Swimming…. I’ll just leave that to lazy fun in my 2′ deep pool during the summer. Actually, I thought that pool might come in really handy after longer runs when I return home covered in sweat!
