Stansbury Park Schools: Preparing for a Major Earthquake

Stansbury Park is a valley community that bordered on the east by the Oquirrh mountains, to the north by the Great Salt Lake, and to the west by a large expanse of desert. While the area is attractive to home buyers because of its proximity to Salt Lake City, it’s also geographically isolated by the lake and mountains. It is accessible to other counties from only two major roadways: I-80 leading west and east and SR-36 leading south.

With roughly 6,000 residents who largely commute to Salt Lake County each work day, the area will face a unique challenge in the aftermath of a large earthquake. If one of these roadway is blocked, how (and when) will parents and children be reunited?
