A Very Good Cause
A Very Good Cause
The third time Toby took me on a date, it was a double date with his friends Trevor and Shannon. Shannon later said she knew right away that Toby and I were going to get married. And we did, just nine months later. Trevor and Shannon were there at our wedding and our families have grown together every since.
One day, not long after the birth of their first son, she sent me an instant message that said, simply “Guess what?” and I responded with “you’re pregnant, aren’t you?” Seven months later, their sweet little surprise, Brooklyn was born and it wasn’t long before she had Toby wrapped around her little finger.
She took her first steps to Toby. When she was a toddler, she used to ride on Toby’s shoulders, putting flowers in his hair.
Last November Brooklyn was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at only four years old. She’s had a wild ride and she’s handled it with incredible grace. On August 29th we’re walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Walkathon. It is a fundraiser to raise money that goes directly to research a cure for diabetes.
Brooklyn and her parents would dearly love to say one day that she used to be diabetic.
The walk is at Wheeler Farm and includes many family activities. If your family would like to join our team, please do! The team captain is Shannon Weeks.
If you can’t walk but would like to donate to our team, click here.
I’ll send anyone that donates $10 or more a bar of Spotted Owl Soap. Just send me a screen cap of your receipt and your address.

Holly,
I love you! Always have. Always will!
Thank you!

Holly,
I read this post and wanted to do something….You don’t have to send me soap (you’re welcome to, of course!), but I did donate 20 USD to the fundraiser. What a great thing for you to use your blog for, thank you for giving me the opportunity to do something that felt so good!
Holly
Sharon, Thank you so much. That was very kind of you! I’d love to send you soap anyway so send me your new address!
